					<li><strong>1931 - </strong>Born in Rameswaram on Pamban Island - India</li>
					<li><strong>1954 - </strong>Graduated in Physics from Saint Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli.</li>
					<li><strong>1955 - </strong>Aerospace Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology.</li>
					<li><strong>1960 - </strong>joined the Aeronautical Development Establishment of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as a scientist.</li>
					<li><strong>1969 - </strong>was transferred to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) where he was the project director of India’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III) which successfully deployed the Rohini satellite in near-earth orbit in July 1980.</li>
					<li><strong>1992-1999 - </strong>Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister and the Secretary of the Defence Research and Development Organisation</li>
					<li><strong>1981 - </strong>Awarded by Padma Bhushan.</li>
					<li><strong>1990 - </strong>Awarded by Padma Vibhushan.</li>
					<li><strong>1997 - </strong>Awarded by Bharat Ratna.</li>
					<li><strong>1997 - </strong>Awarded by Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration.</li>
					<li><strong>1998 - </strong>Veer Savarkar Award.</li>
					<li><strong>2000 - </strong>Ramanujan Award.</li>
					<li><strong>2005 - </strong>Switzerland also declared May 26 as ‘Science Day’ to commemorate Dr Kalam’s visit to the European country.</li>
					<li><strong>2007 - </strong>Honorary Doctorate of Science by University of Wolverhampton, UK.</li>
					<li><strong>2010 - </strong>United Nations decided to honor this ‘great scientist’ on his 79th birth anniversary and declared his birthday on October 15 as the ‘World Students’ Day’</li>
					<li><strong>2015 - </strong>Kalam died on 27 July while delivering a lecture on “Creating a Livable Planet Earth” at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong.</li>
				  </ul>

				  Kalam was the third President of India to have been honored with a Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, before becoming the President.
