Pandas can go from pink, to white and black

Some can be brown too
You can see them in August (they usually are born then!)

They are so cute, but bc of ppl… they are endangered now. 😓

When baby pandas are born they are about the same size as a stick of butter, or about 3 to 5 ounces. This means their mothers are 900 times bigger!

How they raise their babies

A panda mother must carry their baby very gently, until it gets big enough

They are very protective bc the babies are so tiny

The mom holds the baby in her paw when sitting, and in the mouth on the move

Once they are 1-1½ years old, they are 100 pounds and can eat bamboo

By 1½ they can fend for themselves

Endangerment

They are not endangered anymore, nevertheless they’re population is recouping

But they are still vulnerable, with only 1,864 pandas in the wild

They’re habitat is also being destructed taking away food, and places that they would live at

Plus bc they reproduce infrequently, it doesn’t make it ANY BETTER

Habitat

Pandas live in China, specifically bamboo forests on mountains.

That is bc pandas generally like high bamboo forests that are cool and wet

And they are skilled climbers, so that makes it an even better place for them to live

Diet

They eat 23-40 kg of bamboo a day

Pandas like eating different parts of bamboo depending on the season. In the summer and spring they will eat the shoots, in the fall they eat the leaves and in the winter they eat the roots of bamboo.

Pandas that live in the wild will actually hunt small rodents, but since they are not very fast they will usually aim for the wounded animals.

Pandas in captivity will eat fruit, apples being the favorite, and in the summer they will eat ice with the fruit.
