Last year I was re-introduced to web design and development while a few friends and I decided to run our own Minecraft server out of boredom. At the start I had no idea what I was doing as the server OP and the terminal was beyond me save a few basic commands.

Now it's 2015 and during the summer I've decided to take web design and eventually web development more seriously. Learning HTML and CSS really sets the way to learn JavaScript for client side browser usage and with frameworks like node.js one can develop back-end code as well!

If game development is your true passion you could return to HTML5 and CSS3 technologies to develop games for the web, which I'm sure will become incredibly popular again. Or you could learn PHP/MySQL and tackle WordPress.

Sure, there is math involved. And yes the math can become complicated at times, but now you have a context for the math. It wont seem like ivory tower learning. And there is an entire community to help you figure out the trickier parts of programming.

We're all in this one together. Lets make some great web stuff for the end of 2015.
