CodePen probably won't work great in this browser. We generally only support the major desktop browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Use this one at your own risk! If you're looking to test things, try looking at Pens/Projects in Debug View.

Emojis as Icons

See how we can use emojis as icons with the help of text-shadow!

More on this and an alternative to using text-shadow are at https://preethisam.com/how-to-use-emojis-as-icons/

  1. Looks like it doesn't work on Firefox, the color property is just ignored.

  2. @mistic100, Hey!

It works for me in FF, though. Your browser's inspector tool shows which color applied to .icon? transparent? or #444 from ul?

  3. I am stuck to FF58 perhaps the support is new.

It shows "rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" as applied color, but it only works for the plane (I guess the only that has an UTF-8 representation but no emoji)

  4. Why don't just add the variant selector for text style? It's Variant Selector 15, or ︎ in html and \uFE0E in CSS and JS.
