      <h3>Nelson Mandela<br>1918-2013</h3>
        <li><strong>1918</strong> - Born in Mvezo not too from from Mthatha in Eastern Cape</li>
        <li><strong>1930</strong> - His father died at the age of 12 and the younfg Rolhlahla became a ward of Jongintaba at the Great Place in Mqhekezweni</li>
        <li><strong>1933</strong> - Mandela began his secondary education at Clarkebury Methodist High School in Engcobo</li>
        <li><strong>1940</strong> - Mandela found that Jongintaba (the king) had arranged marriages for him and Justice; dismayed, they fled to Johannesburg via Queenstown, arriving in April 1941. There he worked as a mine security officer and after meeting Walter Sisulu, an estate agent, he was introduced to Lazer Sidelsky. He then did his articles through a firm of attorneys – Witkin, Eidelman and Sidelsky.</li>
        <li><strong>1942</strong> - He increasing got involved in politics and 2 years later joined the African National Congress (ANC) aswell as starting the ANC Youth League (ANCYL)</li>
        <li><strong>1943</strong> - He completed his BA through the University of South Africa and went back to Fort Hare for his graduation.</li>
        <li><strong>1944</strong> - He married with Evelyn Mase, nurse and had 2 sons</li>
        <li><strong>1956</strong> - Nelson Mandela was arrested for treason</li>
        <li><strong>1958</strong> - He and Wife divorced and he married Winnie Madikizela a social worker.</li>
        <li><strong>1962</strong> - Mandela secretely left South Africa using the adopted name david Motsamayi, he was charged with leaving without a permit,was convited and senctenced which he began serving at the Pretoria Local Prison.</li>
        <li><strong>1968</strong> _ Mandela's Mother died and a year later his eldest son died too and he was not allowed to attend their funerals</li>
        <li><strong>1982</strong> - He was transferred to Pollsmoor prison in Cape Town, there he was in and out of hospital for 4 years</li>
        <li><strong>1988</strong> - Nine days after the unbanning of the ANC and the PAC and nearly four months after the release of his remaining Rivonia comrades. Throughout his imprisonment he had rejected at least three conditional offers of release.</li>
        <li></strong>1991</strong> - He immersed himself in official talks to end white minority rule and was elected ANC President to replace his ailing friend, Oliver Tambo. In 1993 he and President FW de Klerk jointly won the Nobel Peace Prize and on 27 April 1994 he voted for the first time in his life.</li>
  <li><strong>1994</strong> -  Nelson mandela became the first black president after spending 27 years in prison. It was the end of aparteid years</li>
  <li><strong>1999</strong> - He stayed true to his promise and stepped down as president but continued to work with the Nelson mandela Children's Fund which he set up in 1995 and established the Nelson Mandela Foundation and The Mandela Rhodes Foundation</li>
  <li><strong>2013</strong> - He die at his hom in Johannesburg at the age of 95!</li>
  <p><i><strong>"Nelson Mandela never wavered in his devotion to democracy, equality and learning. Despite terrible provocation, he never answered racism with racism. His life is an inspiration to all who are oppressed and deprived; and to all who are opposed to oppression and deprivation."</strong></i></p>
