Behavior

Save Automatically?

          <li><strong>1889:</strong> Fusajiro Yamauchi establishes Nintendo Playing Card Co. in Tokyo, Japan with $2,000 USD. The company sold handmade hanafuda cards, which translates to "leave luck to heaven."</li>
          <li><strong>1889-1962:</strong>The company had several small business attempts before entering the world of video games. Some business attempts included hanafuda cards, cab services, love hotels, TV networks, and selling "instant rice." Every business attempt failed.</li>
          <li><strong>1963:</strong> Yamauchi renamed the company from Nintendo Playing Card Co. to Nintendo Co.</li>
          <li><strong>1966:</strong> Nintendo enters the toy industry. Although several products were successful, it was not enough for them to compete against already well established toy companies such as Bandai and Tomy.</li>
          <li><strong>1973:</strong> Nintendo shifts towards family entertainment. They come out with the Laser Clay Shooting System, which they had set up in abandoned bowling alleys. This led to the release of several light gun machines which were just in time for the emerging arcade scene. The Laser Clay Shooting Ranges had to be shut down due to excessive costs, however Nintendo Co. had found their market.</li>
          <li><strong>1974:</strong> Nintendo gets the rights to distribute the Magnavox Odyssey video game console.</li>
          <li><strong>1977:</strong> Beginning of company making their own hardware, starting with The Color-TV game consoles.</li>
          <li><strong>1980:</strong> Nintendo releases the Game & Watch handheld video game series: World-wide success.</li>
          <li><strong>1981:</strong> The release of Donkey Kong turns out to be a huge success, and boosts profits for the company tremendously. Additionally allowed for many licensing opportunities with Atari, Colecovision, and Intellivision.</li>
          <li><strong>1985:</strong> Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is released in North America, along with the game Super Smash Bros. one of the best selling game of all time.</li>
          <li><strong>1989:</strong> The GameBoy series is launched following the success of the Game & Watch with a decade of success and insignificant competition.</li>
          <li><strong>1990-2017:</strong> Nintendo is now a leading company for video game software and consistently redefines how people can play games.</li>
