						<p class="paragraph flex-center-vertically">John Fante was born on April 8, 1909 in boulder Colardo and after attending various schools, he moved to LA in 1929 to become a writer. He wrote about the people he met and the places he lived and visited. In later life, he contracted diabetes which cost him his legs and eyesight. With thanks to Charles Bukowski, his books came back into popularity one last time before he passed away in 1983 at the age of 74.</p>

Most of the book is some-what semi-autobiographical, as it tells of Fantes experiances living and trying to survive while writing in the Bunker Hill district of Los Angeles. All of this is written through the eyes of Fantes alter ego, Arturo Bandini.</p>

He famously gave him praise during one of his poetry readings and eventully became a friend of Fante's. He wrote the introduction to the re-printed version of Ask The Dust and is arguebly the person to thank for Fantes rediscovery,</p>
