The Story:

Wurl TV is the world's first broadband television network. Through partnerships with many of the world's largest digital studios, we co-produce a growing collection of branded, 24/7 linear channels and distribute them through the Internet to cable operators' set-top boxes and to OTT streaming services.

The Need:

We're looking for a talented web developer to join a small engineering team that is revolutionizing Internet-delivered linear TV programming. You'll work on a variety of projects including our realtime channel scheduler - creating systems to produce TV channels on cable and OTT platforms for some of the world's largest digital studios.

This is a full time employee position.


  • Write Front-end code in Ruby, HTML/CSS and JavaScript using ReactJS, for multiple codebases. Implement new features and optimize existing ones, with focus on the Scheduler and Administration pieces.
  • Assist in development of other parts of the Wurl infrastructure
  • Rapidly fix bugs and solve problems


  • Demonstrable 5 year minimum experience in building world-class web application interfaces using ReactJS and Ruby on Rails in a professional setting
  • Expert Modern JavaScript/HTML5/CSS coding skills, React experience in at least one project.
  • Database background, including expertise in using AREL in RoR and JSON views and SQL of the Postgres variety.
  • Disciplined approach to testing
  • Strong command of web standards, CSS design, cross-browser compatibility, XML and JSON
  • Good understanding of Web technologies, familiarity with Linux and Macintosh (we use Macs as our development machines)
  • Knowledgeable foundation on interaction design principles.
  • Ability to be self-directed and effectively work remotely.

A plus:

  • Visual design skills
  • Experience with Redis caching
  • BS or higher in computer science or equivalent working experience.
  • Active user of Web Video and an understanding of how codecs and HTML video work.
