A basic
<datalist>
example

The following example demonstrates a progressively-enhanced form using the new <datalist> form control. In browsers supporting this feature, a single text input will display and suggested values will be shown based on user input.

For example, in a recent version of Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome, start typing "Ala" into the input. In browsers lacking
<datalist>
support, a

form control will be displayed along with an additional message and text input for supplying an unlisted value.

As an added bonus, for browsers lacking proper
<datalist>
support, a bit of JavaScript re-associates the "State" label with the

form control and wraps the "If other, please specify:" text in a

and associates it with the text input.

The markup for this example is based on Aaron Gustafson's pen which was based on Jeremy Keith's blog post.
