Add External Stylesheets/Pens

Any URL's added here will be added as
s in order, and before the CSS in the editor. If you link to another Pen, it will include the CSS from that Pen. If the preprocessor matches, it will attempt to combine them before processing.

+ add another resource

Babel is required to process package imports. If you need a different preprocessor remove all packages first.

Add External Scripts/Pens

Any URL's added here will be added as s in order, and run before the JavaScript in the editor. You can use the URL of any other Pen and it will include the JavaScript from that Pen.

Kahlo stated that she was born at the family home, La Casa Azul (The Blue House).

1925–1930: Bus accident, first paintings, and marriage to Diego Rivera. In 1925, at the age of 18, she was in a bus accident that injured her spine, pelvis, and foot, injuries that led to many hospital stays, operations, and, ultimately, her death. In many ways, her art is a chronicle of her personal pain and strength in the face of endless medical problems. But her talent and spirit (or alegría) became the wellspring of her career.

1931–1933: Travels in the United States. After their marriage, Kahlo traveled (1930–33) with Rivera, who had received commissions for murals from several cities in the United States.

1934–1939: San Ángel and international recognition. In 1938 she met André Breton, a leading Surrealist, who championed her work; both Breton and Marcel Duchamp were influential in arranging for some of the exhibits of her work in the United States and Europe.

1940–1949: La Casa Azul, success in Mexico, and declining health. In 1943 she was appointed a professor of painting at La Esmeralda, the Education Ministry’s School of Fine Arts.

1950–1954: Last years and death. Frida Kahlo died in Mexico City in 1954. Officially, she died of a pulmonary embolism, but some believe she deliberately overdosed on painkillers, welcoming an end to her suffering. Even in death, Frida Kahlo was dramatic; when her body was being put into the crematorium, the heat caused her body to suddenly sit up.

Frida Kahlo's work began to come to prominence in the 1970s. Much of her work is at the Frida Kahlo Museum which opened in 1958 in her former residence.
