Many Have Paid With Their Lives, Many Have Not Come Back, and Many Are Still Suffering the Effects

My dad was a Vietnam Vet. He never spoke a word about how it was or what he went through when he served his country in 1961 in the Vietnam war. He carried the nightmares with him and he ended up rock bottom at the same time I was serving in the U.S. Army, the same U.S. Army he served for almost two decades. Today there is help for those that served over in Afghanistan and Iraq, but for those that served in Vietnam there wasn't a lot of help. Men and women suffered from PTSD, Agent Orange and other war related illnesses. My dad did get some help from the VA hospital. I want to remember my dad and others for the sacrifices that they gave for me to live freely in this United States. I always thought that I would be able to talk of our army history together over a cup of coffee. Maybe we will, someday in heaven. Thank you Dad and all those who have served their country during that time.
