Jacob Lawrence Frey

The Worst Mayor of All

Jacob Frey is a serial liar and a political opportunist.

Here are some of the things he campaigned on in 2017:

Jacob focused his campaign on two big issues: public safety (by improving policing) and affordable housing (by promising to end homelessness in 5 years)

Critiqued the mayor at that time by saying, "I think it goes without saying that we've had a massive uptick in violent crime, specifically shootings and some of the worst police-community relations in a long time. And that's the mayor's job. The police report exclusively to the chief and the chief reports exclusively to the mayor. That's how it works."

What has he done since elected mayor of Minneapolis?

Supported a bulldozer approach to homelessness, which is not only cruel but also
shortsighted, counterproductive, and a waste of taxpayers’ dollars.

Used federal funds to demolish and privatize public housing

Accepted more funds from developers than any other candidate, resulting in cheaply built, ugly, unaffordable apartment units popping up all over the city

Upstaged George Floyd at his own funeral by making a spectacle weeping for the cameras, then months later tweeted out that by sacrificing his life George Floyd "bettered our city".

Regularly engages in anti-democratic processes, such as collaborating with Operation Safety Now to lobby city council members and sway public opinion in the hopes of winning increased funding for the MPD. His campaign paid Leili Fatehi $14,000 for "consulting services"while she was running a PAC ("All of Minneapolis") which was basically a shadow campaign for Frey.

Jacob's wife is a lobbyist for an organization that has him on the Board of Directors. He has a history of not disclosing potential conflicts of interest in their relationship.

While Jacob loves to talk about reforming the Minneapolis Police Department, he chooses to do nothing to actually reform them. None of the police who went around hunting citizens in the wake of the murder of George Floyd have been discliplined outside of one who received the lowest level of discipline for failing to report his use of rubber bullets , and another for speaking to the press about the toxic, para-militant culture of MPD.

Jacob also lies a lot. He lied about banning no-knock warrants which resulted in the death of Amir Locke. He lied about banning trainings in the unscientific, racist concept of "excited delerium" He lied about Betsey Hodges and Tina Smith supporting the ballot measure that gave him more power as mayor and against the measure that would have created a Department of Public Safety. He lied about St. Paul police having no need to utilize no-knock warrants saying they have more funding than Minneapolis.

What's Next For Jacob Frey?

Jacob Frey will continue to lie until someone holds him accountable

By his own 2017 criteria his mayoral career has been a failure. Call his office and tell him to resign:

Donate to the family of Amir Locke

                // !! IMPORTANT README:

// You may add additional external JS and CSS as needed to complete the project, however the current external resource MUST remain in place for the tests to work. BABEL must also be left in place.

  - Select the project you would
like to complete from the dropdown
  - Click the "RUN TESTS" button to
run the tests against the blank
  - Click the "TESTS" button to see
    the individual test cases.
(should all be failing at first)
  - Start coding! As you fulfill each
test case, you will see them go
    from red to green.
  - As you start to build out your
    project, when tests are failing,
    you should get helpful errors
    along the way!

// PLEASE NOTE: Adding global style rules using the * selector, or by adding rules to body {..} or html {..}, or to all elements within body or html, i.e. h1 {..}, has the potential to pollute the test suite's CSS. Try adding: * { color: red }, for a quick example!
