Frida Kahlo was well known for her starkly personal and surrealist self-portraits, which were strongly influenced by both physical and psychological trauma that she'd endured from childhood through to her early adult years.
          </p>

When Frida was only 18 she was involved in an almost fatal  bus accident that resulted in a crushed pelvis and multiple body fractures. Almost completely incapacitated, she used the many months of her painful recovery to experiment with the first of her highly introspective and personal paintings, which would thereby evolve into her iconic style.
    </p>

Most of her paintings are categorised as Surrealist due to their bizarre and oftentimes disturbing imagery. Public perception of her work seems to result in a mix of odd captivation, aversive intrigue, and complete adoration.
