So you want to
"git gud"
at Dark Souls 1? Well, thankfully it's a lot easier than it sounds, and as long as you're willing to learn you can easily manage such a feat.

First thing's first, we'll go over the basics of the game, and game mechanics to get you familiarized with how it all works.

The Basics

One thing you're going to want to know, is that you NEED to manage your stamina bar in order to succeed, do not spam rolls or attacks needlessly and always look for an opening! However, we won't be going over how to do that effectively this time around.

Instead, with this basic tutorial, we'll be going over the following and their
functions
:

The difference between light, medium, and heavy rolling.

The different types of weapons in the game.

The specific weapon damage types within the game

The different starting classes.

The starting items you can take with you and their effects.

Difference Between Rolls

Next, let's go over the basics of each type of roll and their effects.

Fast Rolling: Players have a fast roll if their equipment weight is 25% or less of their maximum equipment load. Fast rolls have nearly no ending lag and grant the greatest amount of invincibility frames.

Medium Rolling: Players have a medium roll if their equipment weight is 25% ~ 50% of their maximum equipment load. Medium rolls possess almost as many invincibility frames as fast rolling, per roll.

Heavy Rolls: Players have a heavy roll if their equipment weight is 50%~100% of their maximum equipment load. Heavy rolls feature moderate ending lag and have almost no invincibility frames.
USE AT YOUR OWN PERIL.

Lastly, if 100% equipment load is exceeded, the player simply cannot roll and staggers if attempting to do so.

Weapon Types

Dark Souls features a variety of weapon types and it might be a lot to take in. There a lot to choose from, swords, axes, hammers, catalysts, bows
(don't)
, daggers, and even gauntlets. For a comprehensive list, I'd suggest using this as a resource.

Weapons can also have specific damage type to go along with them. See more here

Finally, here is a link to all of the varying classes in the first game as well as the starting gifts you can choose. I would write them all out for you but there are already better resources out there than what I can provide.

  - Click the "TESTS" button to see
    the individual test cases.

  - Start coding! As you fulfill each
test case, you will see them go
    from red to green.
  - As you start to build out your
    project, when tests are failing,
    you should get helpful errors
