I had so much fun testing this after it took shape. Tweaking some of the settings (if you're inclined, please mess around), I noticed two things about how the GPU/CPU (in my case) took the load. By playing some music, I could get my sound output to start lagging when I upped some of the numbers in the animation.
That was great. Number two was what I heard when left in a background tab, there are certain times when the playback just breaks down depending on which phase it is. The phase offset, which helps make the "legs" overlap in an spatial pattern, is a parabolic function. The result sine wave of this matches well with system load (as far as I could measure it).
